Special Date

I have been harboring some serious Mom Guilt. Lately, while I make sure his basic needs are met and also tend to the baby, Dylan has taken over most of the playtime with Gavin. Dylan has become the apple of G's eye. I totally get it. Daddy is the fun one, and he's patient enough to spend lots of time playing with Gavin. I usually have a baby strapped to my body while simultaneously attempting to give him love and attention, and it's just not the same as it used to be. So, I decided it was time for G and me to have our own special date together, and we headed off to Fashion Square.

Our first stop was Build a Bear. He picked out a Chewbacca, and since all Star Wars bears were on special, we picked up a Storm Trooper for Graham. He enjoyed the process and mostly just liked dragging the bear box all over the mall. The next stop was the play area. I should have saved my money and hit this place up first and foremost. Gavin had a fantastic time, and I could only bribe him away with his choice of a milkshake or cookie. He chose a cookie for his treat, much to my great pleasure, so we took a couple thrilling rides on the escalators down to the food court. Of course, Gavin chose the elaborately decorated candy cookie, and then he ate all the candies off the cookie before digging into the cookie itself. I delighted in a chocolate chip treat, my most favorite edible thing in the world. Since we indulged in fun activity after fun activity, he was in a great mood, and it was absolutely blissful.

Oh no, what happened to all the candy?

We got home just in time for Graham to wake up from a nap and then fix dinner, which fortunately was not ruined by the cookie treat. Gavin went right back into Daddy-loving mode, which is fine by me. I love how much he loves his daddy, and I'll patiently wait for his affection once my workload has been lightened in other areas of life. I loved having this time with Gavin. He and I had always spent so much time together...in fact we were together 24/7, almost exclusively, during our time in Oregon this summer. I didn't realize how much I'd miss it, and I am already planning our next outing together.
